ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology is primarily involved in the diagnosis of all the dental/oral and perioral diseases in a systematic manner and its medical management. This department mainly focuses on dealing with patient’s history taking, clinical examination, investigations, diagnosis, radiographic examination and medical management of lesions related to oral cavity. There is a special focus on patients having chronic usage of habits like tobacco, betel nut etc., where they are examined to diagnose early signs of oral precancer/cancer and evolve treatment immediately to improve the longevity and quality of life and also prevent it. In addition to this, Or facial pain including temporomandibular joint disorders, salivary gland disorders and a range of oral ulcers are appropriately diagnosed, investigated and treated medically.
The Department is located in the ground floor of CKS Theja Dental College with separate undergraduate and post graduate sections along with a radiology wing. The department trains the undergraduates for the BDS program in 3rd and 4th year and a complete 3 year program leading to the Master of dental surgery (MDS) with a yearly uptake of 3 students per year.
