Overview:

The department of oral pathology is situated in the ground floor of C.K.S.Theja dental college, spread out in 10,000 Sq.ft area housing state of the art equipment in the field of academics & Research. The undergraduate program was established in the year1999 and the post graduate in the year 2011.Oral maxillofacial pathology is that branch of dentistry that deals with the microscopic examination of normal cells and pathological tissues of the biopsy specimens of the oral cavity.

Oral pathology deals with the fundamentals in oral biology and pathology for the undergraduates and helping/ guiding the post graduates to reach the final diagnosis in the histopathological examination and involve in the research activities. The department is well equipped with adequate number of microscopes, histology slides, study models, charts, and hard and soft tissue specimens for under graduate and post graduate training.

The department also has been equipped with Olympus penta head microscopic, where all the post graduates students can discuss slides at one time. The microscope through a soft ware can be connected to a monitor for academic activities.

The Department has actively conducted National PG convention, National level P.G Rapid Review, NTRUHS Zonal programmes. The Department also conducts quiz competitions for III-BDS to improve their knowledge which is useful for various quiz competitions conducted during state level IDA programmes. Various screening programmes were also conducted to bring awareness for precancerous &cancerous lesions in the rural areas. The department also conducts clinico pathological case discussions with oral medicine and oral surgery for the enhancement of the skills in clinical practice and treatment planning. The Department is actively in research and there are several ongoing projects by the faculty and post graduate students.
